What are you thankful for?

I've been teaching the first graders about the first Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful. We've been talking a lot about things we are thankful for. So, it has made me start thinking. What am I thankful for? I complain a lot. School has been rough the past couple weeks and it seems like I am tired and mentally blah when I have so much to be thankful for. I had a long chat with my bro and it made me start thinking. Here's a list of some of the things I'm thankful for:
  1. A husband who takes care of me- not everyone still has their husband
  2. A beautiful new house and roof over my head- not everyone has a house
  3. A job- last year I was RIF'd and didn't know what would happen. I'm so glad I have a job-not everyone does
  4. I am thankful I live in America. That being said I think Americans ~can be~ spoiled babies. Do we have to grow our own food to survive? Worry about our whole family or village for that matter dying from a mosquito bite? Do we sleep in a hole in the ground? Sell our children to slavery? The list goes on and on. I don't know why God chose for me to have the privileged life I live but I am thankful for all the blessings that come with just living in America.
These are just the big things. I am thankful for the 30 minutes a day that the kids have a special so I can just breathe. :0 ) I am thankful for this laptop I am typing on so I can sit on the couch and not in the office. I am thankful for my new black shoes that I searched months for.

We all should think more about the things we are thankful for. What about you? What are you thankful for? I know not many people follow my blog. It's not like I am that interesting, but if you are reading this let me know what you are thankful for. Blog about it, post it on Facebook, Twitter whatever. Let's all practice what I teach and think about what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving season.

Happy Turkey Month!
