I've been teaching the first graders about the first Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful. We've been talking a lot about things we are thankful for. So, it has made me start thinking. What am I thankful for? I complain a lot. School has been rough the past couple weeks and it seems like I am tired and mentally blah when I have so much to be thankful for. I had a long chat with my bro and it made me start thinking. Here's a list of some of the things I'm thankful for:
- A husband who takes care of me- not everyone still has their husband
- A beautiful new house and roof over my head- not everyone has a house
- A job- last year I was RIF'd and didn't know what would happen. I'm so glad I have a job-not everyone does
- I am thankful I live in America. That being said I think Americans ~can be~ spoiled babies. Do we have to grow our own food to survive? Worry about our whole family or village for that matter dying from a mosquito bite? Do we sleep in a hole in the ground? Sell our children to slavery? The list goes on and on. I don't know why God chose for me to have the privileged life I live but I am thankful for all the blessings that come with just living in America.
We all should think more about the things we are thankful for. What about you? What are you thankful for? I know not many people follow my blog. It's not like I am that interesting, but if you are reading this let me know what you are thankful for. Blog about it, post it on Facebook, Twitter whatever. Let's all practice what I teach and think about what we are thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
Happy Turkey Month!
